Helpers Safety Center

You are not alone here. These simple habits help Hiring Moms and MomHelpers feel safe and respected.

Talk in MomUnity first

Keep early conversations in MomUnity messages. Share your phone number or home address only when you feel comfortable.

Interview before you agree

A phone or video chat helps you both decide if it's a good fit. Ask about experience and, if you'd like, references.

Plan first meetings carefully

When it makes sense, meet in a public place first. Tell someone you trust where you'll be and when.

Agree on the details in writing

Before work begins, agree on tasks, date, time, price, payment method, and cancellation directly with each other.

Trust your instincts

You never owe anyone an explanation. If something feels off, step back, block, or report.

Emergencies come first

If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911. MomUnity reports are not an emergency service.

What MomUnity does and doesn’t do

  • We help moms find and contact each other, review profiles before they appear, and review reports.
  • We do not employ MomHelpers, run background checks, supervise work, or guarantee anyone’s safety.
  • Membership payment confirms your Hiring Mom membership. It is not identity verification or screening.
  • Job payments are made directly between members. MomUnity doesn’t process or refund them.

Blocking and reporting

Block anyone at any time from their profile or MomHelper page. Blocking stops new messages and Helpers requests between you. Information needed for a safety review is kept privately for staff.

Report a safety concern, harassment, scam or spam, an inappropriate request, discrimination, or anything else. Reports are private. Our team reviews the report and available information and may limit, suspend, or remove an account when appropriate. We may not be able to share the outcome.

Not allowed through MomUnity Helpers

  • Childcare or babysitting (coming soon as a separate service)
  • Medical, nursing, or medication care
  • Access to bank accounts, cards, or passwords
  • Unsafe or illegal work
  • Anything involving weapons or controlled substances
