Hi, I’m T’aira Flint
Founder of The MomUnity Project
I have always been a resourceful person and a natural connector.
For years, friends, family members, coworkers, and others have come to me when they needed help finding a program, service, opportunity, or community resource. I genuinely enjoy researching what is available and helping connect people with the right support for their particular needs.
That passion also followed me into my professional life. During my time working in the corporate world, I served on different committees and often found myself in roles where I helped connect people with resources, information, and opportunities.
Over time, I realized something important:
There are many incredible resources available in our communities, but too many people simply don’t know they exist or don’t know where to start looking.
That realization became part of the foundation for The MomUnity Project.
Why I Created The MomUnity Project
We are living in challenging times, and many families need additional support.
At the same time, there are organizations, programs, community members, and resources ready to help. The missing piece is often the connection between the two.
I created The MomUnity Project to help make that connection easier for moms.
I wanted to build one place where mothers could find local resources, connect with organizations, ask the community for help, offer help to another mom, build new friendships, and simply have somewhere to talk when they need support.
MomUnity is designed to bring resources and community together.
More Than a Resource Directory
Finding services is only one part of what mothers need.
Sometimes the resource you need is a program. Sometimes it’s information. Sometimes it’s another mom who understands.
MomUnity gives members opportunities to:
- Search for local resources and programs
- Ask the community for help
- Offer help to another mom
- Meet and connect with other moms
- Build new mom friendships
- Vent, ask for advice, and receive encouragement in a nonjudgmental space
- Discover community events, programs, and opportunities
- Become part of a community built around moms helping moms
Sometimes the resource you need is an organization. Sometimes the resource you need is another mom.
Moms Helping Moms
This is one of my favorite parts of the platform.
A mom may realize that her baby has outgrown most of his clothes, but buying another set of clothes isn’t financially possible at the moment. She could post in the MomUnity community:
“Does anyone have 6-month baby boy clothes their child has outgrown and no longer needs?”
“I have a bag my son just outgrew. You’re welcome to have them.”
MomUnity helps create that connection.
The purpose is not member-to-member cash transfers. The purpose is community members sharing resources, information, items, encouragement, and appropriate support when they are able.
One mom’s extra may be exactly what another mom needs.
Connection With Safety in Mind
I want MomUnity to be welcoming, but I also want it to be responsible.
Members are encouraged to use appropriate safety precautions when:
- Meeting someone they first connected with online
- Exchanging items
- Sharing personal information
- Communicating privately
A Foundation in Community & Psychology
My passion for helping people find resources has grown alongside my education and professional experiences.
I have completed Community Health Worker training, which strengthened my knowledge of resource navigation, community outreach, and connecting individuals with available support.
I have also earned my Associate’s degree in Psychology and am continuing my education in Psychology.
My experience as a mother, student, community resource navigator, and professional has shaped the way I think about support:
People often don’t need someone to solve everything for them. Sometimes they simply need someone to help them find the right information, opportunity, connection, or next step.
The Vision Is Bigger Than the Platform
The MomUnity Project may be starting as an online community, but my vision goes much further. I want MomUnity to grow into an organization that creates meaningful opportunities and support for mothers and families both online and within the community.
Future goals may include:
Baby & Diaper Support
Future diaper banks, baby-essential initiatives, and partnerships that help families access basic necessities.
School & Family Drives
Back-to-school drives, school supplies, clothing initiatives, and other seasonal family-support programs.
Holiday Initiatives
Holiday toy drives, family programs, and opportunities to help make the season brighter for families experiencing financial hardship.
Giveaways
Community giveaways and MomUnity-sponsored opportunities designed to support and celebrate moms and families.
Mom & Family Events
Community events where moms and families can meet, build friendships, have fun, and learn about available resources.
Workshops & Resource Events
Educational workshops, resource fairs, family-support events, and community information sessions.

Better Together
I don’t want The MomUnity Project to replace the organizations that are already doing incredible work. I want to connect with them.
There are organizations throughout our communities already providing food assistance, childcare support, healthcare, mental-health services, housing assistance, education, diapers, employment services, family programs, and so much more.
MomUnity can help make those programs easier for mothers to discover.
As the platform grows, I want Community Resource Partners to be able to maintain their own resources and connect directly with the families who may benefit from their services.
The long-term goal is for MomUnity to become a bridge between:
- Moms who need support
- Moms who want to help
- Organizations with resources
- Communities working together
Why “MomUnity”?
The name represents the heart of the project:
Mom + Community + Unity
Mothers come from different backgrounds, neighborhoods, experiences, cultures, and stages of life. But there is still something powerful about mothers choosing to support other mothers.
Today, you may need the village. Tomorrow, you may be the person who helps someone else in it. There is room for both.
This Is Only the Beginning
My goal is to continue growing The MomUnity Project, bringing more mothers into the community, adding more verified resources, developing meaningful partnerships, and creating programs that respond to real needs within our communities.
I’m excited about where MomUnity can go and the impact we can create together.
The best of MomUnity is still ahead of us.
